Perranuthnoe – A Cornish gem waiting to be discovered

Driving down to Perranuthnoe on the narrow, winding road one is immediately greeted by the pink rendering of the multi award winning pub the Victoria Inn. Due to the success of the inn which is one of the oldest in the country, Perranuthnoe was first brought to the attention of culinary enthusiasts. Most recently though, the small coastal village is attracting a much more diverse crowd of visitors who instantly fall in love with its unspoilt and quiet appearance.

Being located right between Penzance and Helston, Perranuthnoe is not only the ideal location to explore the southwest of Cornwall but also the perfect place to unwind and relax as it offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of popular places such as Marazion and Penzance in the east and Praa Sands in the west. This escapism is one of many reasons why more and more visitors are enchanted by Perranuthnoe.
In the last few years, the historic coastal village has become known for its sustainably and locally produced art and craft. The former Lynfield farm has been converted into an art and craft centre which houses the Cowhouse Gallery, Village Crafts Perranuthnoe including Cornish Wool and the Peppercorn café.
The Cowhouse Gallery prides itself of showcasing original and unique pieces of art such as sculptures, abstract paintings, wood-turning and ceramics which are sold to affordable prices. The prices are kept low as there is no middle man involved which means that every sale supports one of the 15 local artists who are part of the co-operative gallery. Visitors to the gallery are able to meet the artists themselves and discuss their work over a cup of tea.
Village Crafts Perranuthnoe also encourages visitors to take part in their weekly knitting and weaving sessions making a visit a very hands-on experience.
We offer an extensive range of art work, gifts, jewellery, country clothing and local crafts from over 60 local crafts people and artists.

The Gallery is also the home for our Cornish Wools range of local wool products. Knitting wool, throws and scarves all produced by us using sheep fleece from local Cornish farmers.
Just a few yards from the Lynfield centre, one can enjoy a beautiful view over the little cove and the sandy beach which is ideal for families to spend a day at with its many puddles and pristine water or join onto the cliff path and explore the legendary Prussia Cove to the east with its history of piracy and smuggling or head to the west towards Marazion with an incredible view over St Michael’s Mount.
Even though Perranuthnoe is just a small village, it is a fantastic example of what Cornwall has to offer and at the same time proves how rewarding it is to go off the beaten track once in a while.
