CRM Solutions for Restaurants and Pubs

CRM solutions can be used for any kind of business, including restaurants and pubs. To show how this can be done, I would like to use an example of a restaurant I visited over the Christmas break.

Over Christmas we had my parents over and we wanted to treat them for a nice meal. The restaurant we wanted to go to was fully booked. We knew there was another one down the road but everyone said it was no good. Nevertheless we decided to give it a try. As it turned out the place was taken over by a new owner and served excellent food. It was that good that we decided to take 5 of our friends there for New Years Eve.

Even though the food was excellent, the prices low and the atmosphere great, I have not been back since. I might be more likely to return if I knew what was going on in regards to menu changes, special evening offers or tasting events. Especially in this case some proactive contacting would be recommendable as the restaurant only offers a set menu and this will most likely have changed since we last ate there at Christmas. On top of that, many people still believe it is run by the old owner so some positive word to mouth generated by a CRM campaign would be beneficial, too.

By setting up an email marketing campaign, the restaurant owner could easily inform customers on upcoming events and special offers enabling him to retain more customers due to his proactive approach. These campaigns can also be used to improve business on the weakest day of the week by informing customers about exclusive discounts or themed evenings.

To build a subscriber list, customers can be offered a free drink in exchange for providing contact details. Within a few weeks, the subscriber list should be sufficient enough to send out the first mailer. I would also suggest to focus on local customers by offering them different incentives. Therefore segmenting the subscriber list could be quite beneficial.
